Intertextuality in Media

Intertextuality can be described as the relationship between texts, inter- between, text- refers to all kinds of media now. Includes 3 sub- genres including;

Obligatory- When the author or writer of the media makes a direct comparison between their piece and the reference piece. The understanding of the reference in obligatory is essential to the piece.

Accidental- When the author or writer of the media makes a comparison between media but the understanding of the text being referred isn't essential to the proper understanding of the current media.

Accidental- When the reader makes a connection between 2 pieces without the connection having to be laid out for them.

This is obviously an homage from ToyStory2 to the similar scene in Jurassic Park, optional inertextuality.
